Library Instruction and Research Help
One-on-One Consultations or Small Group Sessions
Librarians will come to your office or to a departmental meeting to deliver a training session designed to suit your specific needs. We can customize a hands-on tutorial for small groups. The length of the sessions and the content are entirely up to you (see a list of possible topics below).
Course-Specific Instruction
The most effective library instruction is tailored for and integrated into a course. Librarians can work with course instructors to develop library components and, if desired, research assignments that will complement your teaching objectives and help your students develop their information literacy skills.
Faculty Orientation
New faculty are encouraged to make an appointment for a brief orientation to the library. Find out about the services and products that are available to you, such as our literature search service, in-class library instruction sessions, and more. Come with your questions and any ideas you might have about how we can help you.
Topics
Our course-specific instruction, one-on-one sessions, and group sessions may include but are not limited to the following topics:
- How to search PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and more
- Research data management
- Research metrics/bibliometrics
- Scholarly publishing and open access
- Copyright
- Citation management tools
- Tips for searching Google and Google Scholar
- Evidence-based point of care tools
