QEII Library
Some of the ways the QEII Library supports accessibility include:
- Elevators equipped with voice announcement and braille
- Accessible study rooms indicated with an icon on our room booking site
- Free earplugs by request from the Ask Us Desk
- Requests for low-stimulation or accessible study rooms that can be directed to qe2publicservices@mun.ca
- Universal washroom available on the third floor
Assistive technology and workstations
Assistive Technology Room
The Commons provides a Bookable Assistive Technology Room, for use by students registered with Accessibility Services (Blundon Centre). It is located on the main floor in room L2001 and offers access to:
- Read and Write, NVDA screen reader, Inspiration, Dragon Naturally Speaking
- Accessible and ergonomic keyboards and trackball mouse
- Electric height-adjustable desk
- Closed circuit television (CCTV)
- Scanning and printing
- Document stands
The Commons (main floor)
- NVDA screen reader and Kurzweil text-to-speech software installed on all computers
- Native Windows Ease of Access options
- Laptop hookup stations so students can use their own personal assistive technology
- Tabletop power outlets
- 14 standing workstations
- Variety of workspaces (e.g., silent and collaborative computing spaces)
The Commons Classroom (main floor)
- Designated assistive technology stations with electric height adjustable desk with Read and Write, NVDA screen reader, Inspiration, Dragon Naturally Speaking
Digital Media Centre (main floor)
- Electric height-adjustable desk with NVDA screen reader and Native Windows Ease of Access options
- Borrow:
- Headphones
- Handheld scanners, smartpens and magnifiers
- Wacom tablet and stylus
