Getting Started: Alumni and Guests
Borrowing
Memorial University alumni can use their alumni Campus Card to borrow from our libraries. Guests can get a free guest card from most library branches. Visit our borrow, return, renew pages to learn about loan periods and other borrowing details.
OneSearch accounts
If you don’t have a current MUN Login ID, a OneSearch account lets you view your library account, request items for pickup at other library locations, and renew your loans. A OneSearch account does not provide off-campus access to our online resources like ebooks, ejournals, or databases.
Guests and alumni can set up a OneSearch account by visiting the service desk of most of our library branches or by contacting the Library.
Need something we don’t have?
Alumni and guests can recommend a new purchase for the Libraries. Recommendations are evaluated by collections librarians in consultation with our collection development policies.
Alumni can use our Document Delivery service to borrow items from other institutions, but any fees charged by the lending institution must be paid by the borrower. Fees can vary depending on the institution and the item, and we’ll let you know about any fees before finalizing the request.
Guests are not permitted to use our Document Delivery service at this time.
Digital resources and subscriptions
In-person access
Alumni and guests can access our subscription resources like databases, ejournals, and ebooks on campus at our libraries.
We are unable to provide off-campus access to databases and other electronic subscriptions to alumni or anyone who is not a current MUN student, staff, or faculty member.
Open access
Open access research materials are freely accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
You can search for only open access items in OneSearch. On the search results page under “Show only,” select “Open access” to just see open access research.

Many of our branches have public computers for guests and alumni to use. Visit our printing and technology page and select your branch for full details. Memorial University has a guest wifi network that everyone can connect to on campus.
Our libraries offer individual, group, and quiet study spaces. Visit our study rooms and spaces page and select your branch for full details on using these spaces.
